just wanted to vent my slow death due to lack of a Silk Road account.
completely understand DPR has to limit traffic in order to assess impact on the site, but maaaaan. put yourselves in my shoes. I came on to register the exact day the site went down. so imagine you are me...remember the first time you came to SR, and imagine you were told you couldn't create an account for an indefinite period of time. all that nervous excitement...shattered.
i obviously recognise that all the vendors etc are more important than a lowly noob buyer like myself, they all have more to lose etc etc...but just spare a thought for the dudes like me who can't even get a sniff (and may never get a sniff depending on how this all plays out).

i understand how it must be frustrating but after all the trouble in the last week i think allowing new accounts to register will be the last thing on DPR's to do list. Gutting i know but maybe direct some blame to all the trolls and muppets on these forums

only you need to watch out for scammers on that site big time, don't release escrow before you get product

doesn't really seem in the spirit of SR, but i understand your opportunism. all the same, i will pass. thanks for the offer though.
and Donny, yeah, totally gutting. I finally learned the entire process end to end...PGP, where to source Bitcoins, Tormail etc...so jumped on Saturday arvo and....bzzzzt.
oh well, good things come to those who wait!

exactly. in the long run it will be better if the site is sorted out a bit more before people can register instead of it going down all the time.

no offense pal, as i don't know you, but i think the site should go invite only. too many newbies on here is too much of a risk for the sites security/integrity

How could a newbie pose a risk to this site ? I honestly don't see it. The only thing a newbie could put at risk on here is his money and his own freedom I guess but maybe I am just not thinking far enough..

This a million and one percent! Im not ageist or anything but reading the forums it feels like everyones 15. ppl posting the exact same questions every 5 mins with out reading the thread and asking basic sr questions. then claiming the site is hacked and causing mass hysteria!

Yeah please allow Silk Road to run as it is and not subvert the system is does twice the damage and shows no respect to community.
I believe you were one of the members huge amount of members in my PM box about a certain little url experiment someone decided to test out last week or this week.
I am a voice of reason spend your time reading the archives it will improve you and increase your knowledge and safety during your time as a member.
Accounts will become coming back very soon, but at the current time new accounts of any kind are not transferable or available and should be a harm reduction que to every member of the community to help protect each other post in the thread it's not allowed and report the thread/post with a click on the report to a moderator button available in every post in this forum.

i think all the newbies going on and trying to register while DPR was trying to get the site up probaly didnt help. then when on, not knowing what to do and posting their address in the feedback box ( dont know how it happend but it did! ) not using pgp, trolling, claiming their btcs havent been deposited ( ive noticed no older members or legit vendors claiming this) spamming dpr and the admins inbox asking for help so he cant get anything done to make the site better, the list is endless. all this slows down dpr's productivity and takes him longer to improve the site and keep on top of security

Well said. Theres so much disrespect on here its so unreal. everyone including the vendors were first time buyers at one point and this was when their wasnt much info on the clearnet so we took time researching and when we got on SR we were fully prepared. Unfortunately the popularity of the site means that theres now unlimited info on the web, media and general gossip on the street. this has caused an influx of people jumping straight on like its amazon and not really having a clue what to do. I still feel priveliged to have such a great service. I was a buyer before and have only just started vending and its horrible to see these forums in the past week. Imagine how disheartend DPR feels when he has one second to look at the forums. Its as if all the newbies i trying to get him to say enough is enough. Guy deserves a break

with closed or invite only registration you would eliminate:
1) random, desperate youngsters who stumble across the site and register for everything that has a username just because they like making up new ones and end up ordering some 2C-B only to overdose.....
2) scammers like MTLjohn creating multiple shill accounts so they can perpetrate their fuckwad schemes every which way....
3) law enforcement pigs who try to set up sting ops and infiltrate the whole god damn site....
4) spam idiots with names like "gfdrhrehre".....
the list goes on man. closed and invite only would be like utopia, if you didn't know someone on the site already with an invite you would have to wait first and strike up a forum presence and earn your keep that way. sounds like big mac with special k sauce to me bababaaay

Yeah similiar thing a week or 2 ago. The way things are going im sure LE dont need to worry about shutting the site down ;)
